Non-standard parts are what keep my job interesting. These are components that don't fit a catalog. They're custom-designed for a specific application, and they need CNC machining to come to life.
At AOOM, we produce non-standard stainless steel parts from 304, 316, 17-4PH, and surgical-grade 316L. Tolerances go to ±0.005 mm. We use CAD/CAM programming for custom toolpaths and multi-axis machining centers for complex geometry.
We start with a DFM analysis. Non-standard means unconventional, and unconventional designs often have manufacturability issues. Our engineers flag thin walls, deep cavities, and hard-to-reach features before we cut metal.
We offer electropolishing and passivation as secondary operations. These improve corrosion resistance and surface finish for food processing, medical, and marine parts.
A recent project involved a custom valve body for an offshore oil application. The client needed Hastelloy-grade corrosion resistance in a 316L part with a complex internal port. We programmed 5-axis toolpaths to machine the port in one setup. No secondary operations needed.
We turn around most prototypes in seven days. For production runs, we scale with SPC monitoring to maintain quality. Our 15+ years of experience means we've seen almost every type of non-standard job.
If your design doesn't fit a standard part number, that's fine. We specialize in what doesn't fit.
